Keene State College OSHA Training Institute Education Center and ASSE Chapters in New England along with support from the Safety and Health Council of Northern New England will host the national certification examination preparation workshops for Mathematics and Associate Safety Professional (ASP).

Instructor: Michael Weigand, CSP, Ed.D. Mr. Weigand is Vice President of Langlois, Weigand & Associates, Inc. Before entering the consulting field full-time, he served as an Instructor at Louisiana State University from 1980 until 1989. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Safety & Health from Our Lady of Holy Cross College in New Orleans, LA, a Master’s Degree in Safety Management from the University of Arizona, and a Doctor of Education
in Safety Education from Texas A&M University. He has over 20 years’ experience in the safety & health career field and has been a CSP since 1979. Mr.
Weigand has taught courses in occupational safety, safety management, industrial hygiene, fire science, and safety law at LSU. He has conducted professional
seminars on such topics as safety and health audits, safety management, and safety training. He has served as a management consultant and expert witness.

Math Review for Certification Exams | April 30, 2013 | $315
1 Day / .7 CEU: This is an intensive review of essential math skills. This workshop is specifically designed for those preparing for certification
examinations (ASP, CSP, CHST, OHST) and needing a hands-on review of essential skill areas. It covers the following:
• Conversions – SI and English conversions of mass, length and time
• Dimensional analysis – multi-step conversions (e.g., converting miles per hour to feet per second, pounds to micrograms)
• Number manipulation – exponents, scientific notation, significant digits, answer accuracy and rounding and logarithms
• Shapes and formulae – area, circumference and volume of rectangles, triangles, circles, trapezoids, cubes and cylinders
• Graphing – two dimensional graphing of linear, exponential, trigonometric and logarithmic functions
• Algebra – laws and concepts, word problems
• Trigonometry – right angles, trigonometry functions and word problems
• Operation of a scientific calculator (Must bring a TI-30X-IIS calculator. )

Associate Safety Professional (ASP) Examination Preparation Workshop
May 1 through 3, 2013 | $725
3 Days / 2.1 CEUs. Gain the knowledge and confidence to pass the Safety Fundamentals examination leading to the ASP designation with this review of SH&E concepts and test-taking strategies. The Safety Fundamentals exam is a five-hour computer delivered test, required in the two-test process of becoming a CSP. This workshop will review more than 200 questions addressing all four domains covered in the exam blueprint that will guide you toward full competency in the field of SH&E.

• Recognizing, measuring, evaluating, and controlling SH&E hazards
• SH&E training and management
• Business principles, practices, and metrics in SH&E practice
• Operation of a scientific calculator (Must bring a TI-30X-IIS calculator. )

Registration and Tuition is due a minimum of 30 days in advance of the course start date. A late fee of $50 will be assessed for those registering/
paying tuition after March 30th, 2013. Minimum participation level of 15 participants per course is required. Keene State College reserves the right to
